Computational Support for the HEU to LEU Conversion of the UMLRR
The UMass-Lowell Research Reactor (UMLRR) is scheduled to be converted from high enriched uranium (HEU) fuel to low enriched uranium (LEU) fuel during the latter part of 1999 or early 2000. As part of this conversion effort, a series of computational reactor physics models are currently being developed. These models will allow a series of analyses to be performed for the startup and operational characterization of the LEU-fuelled UMLRR. The list below identifies a series of brief progress reports that outline the work being performed as part of this project. This work is being conducted by Prof. John R. White and several graduate students at UMass-Lowell. The work is being funded by the U.S. Department of Energy under UMass-Lowell Research Foundation Project #14-08239-F.
